Tenugui From Kitagawa Utamaro’s “Negai no Itoguchi”

A tenugui produced based on Negai no Itoguchi by Kitagawa Utamaro, held in the Uragami Sōkyūdō collection.

It translates the work into the format of the tenugui, a cloth long used in Japan as an everyday utilitarian object.
An image once created for contemplation is reconstituted as fabric—meant to be touched and carried in daily life.

浦上蒼穹堂収蔵、喜多川歌麿『願ひの糸ぐち』を基に制作した手ぬぐい。

日本で長く日用品として用いられてきた手ぬぐいの形式へと置き換えている。 鑑賞のために存在していた図像を、日常の中で触れ、携行する布として再構成した。
